Byte Size Coaching can give coaches the tools they need to succeed.
Lynn Valley Soccer Association is pleased to offer the Byte Size Coaching program to all LVSA coaches.
It gives practice plans and curriculum specific to the age groups that you will be coaching (from U6 through to U18).
All of the material is printable. For the U7 to U12 age groups there are one-page printable Session Plans that you can fold, put in your shorts or tracksuit pocket and take to the practice field.
If you do not have easy access to the Internet and/or printer, we suggest that you ask one of the team parents or team manager to print off the appropriate age-lesson plans for you ─ including the 12-Session Schedule, the 12 Session Plans for your age group and the Progressions that go with each activity. There is a print button for the Lesson Plans, but you will have to “Copy and Paste” the Progression pages.
Coaches, don’t be afraid of looking at the practices suggested for the older age groups for additional ideas. As well, don’t think you are being negative by looking at the practices for younger groups. Many of these small-sided and overloaded number practices for the 6, 7 & 8 year olds are used by professional clubs as part of their practice schedule.
Remember these Practice Plans are just a tool.
As well as the players, make sure you have fun. The Byte size Coaching program will help you do that.
Please contact Tony Waiters if you have any questions about the program. Your Age Group Coordinator can supply you with the username and password.

Lynn Valley Soccer believes that the best way to develop better players is to develop better coaches. That’s why we reimburse 100% of the cost of any coach certification program successfully completed by a coach leading to a certification by the BC Soccer Association, from Community Coach Children to and including “B” Provincial licensing.
If you’re a coach with LVSA, we strongly encourage you to enroll in these programs and obtain the highest level of certification possible.
Community Coach Certificate
Community Coach Certificates are designed for entry level coaches working with community teams. Three levels of Community Coaching Certification are available, based on player age:
If you’re a new coach just starting out with a U6 or U7 team, you will automatically participate in the CCC course via our Saturday morning team development program. Coaches starting out at the U8 to U9 level can receive CCC certification through participation in the LVSA Team Development program; however this program is optional and not all teams choose to participate.
CCC certification at all three age levels is also available through NSYSA-sponsored clinics, or can be accessed directly through the BCSA. We encourage our coaches to acquire the Community Coach Certification appropriate to the age of their team.
B Provincial Licensing Program
The B Provincial License focuses on working with high performance athletes up to the age of 14 years old. This course involves both theory and practical coaching work. This program can be accessed directly through the BCSA.
