Information regarding Referees

Would your son like to referee soccer?
The North Shore Youth Soccer Association (NSYSA) is looking for referees for the upcoming 2009/2010 season. The minimum age for referees (small-sided games) and assistant referees is U13. Minimum age for Youth Referee is 14; 16 for a District Referee. Parents are encouraged to take the referee course as well, either to become a paid referee, or just to understand the game better and share that knowledge with your son.

Lynn Valley Soccer Association will reimburse any LVSA player the cost of the referee course, once the player has reffed 5 games.

Let them know if you and/or your children are interested in the referee program so that a training course can be set up especially for you this summer.

Player Development

STRICT BAN ON GRASS FIELD PRACTICES

Because grass fields are so easily damaged, the District of North Vancouver enforces a strict no-practice rule for all grass fields. This encompasses all types of practice, from simple conditioning drills to full-fledged scrimmages. Most LVSA teams respect this rule and help to protect our grass fields by staying off. For those tempted to bypass this rule, please note that teams found practicing on a grass field will automatically lose their grass privileges for the year. The District also levies fines of up to $500 to violators. If you know of anyone practicing on grass fields, please tell them to stop.
